Embroidery File Viewer FAQ
How do I open an embroidery file without software?+
Drop the file onto the viewer above, or click it to choose a file. It opens in your browser in a few seconds and shows the design with its thread colors, size and stitch count. You don't need any embroidery software or an account.
Which embroidery file formats can I view?+
DST, PES, JEF, EXP, VP3, XXX, HUS, VIP, PEC, SEW, U01 and more than 60 formats in total, covering Tajima, Brother, Babylock, Janome, Melco, Bernina, Pfaff, Husqvarna Viking, Singer and Barudan machines.
Are my files stored or shared?+
No. Your file is read on our server to get its stitches, and that temporary copy is deleted straight away. We don't keep, look at or share your designs.
Can I download my design as a PNG image?+
Yes. Click Download PNG image to save a high-resolution picture of the design, with a transparent background if you like. It's handy for mockups, quotes and approval emails.
Can I convert the file to another embroidery format?+
Yes. Under Download, choose DST, PES, JEF, EXP, VP3, XXX, PEC, U01 or TBF and the converted file is saved to your device. For other formats, use our free Embroidery Format Converter.
Why do the colors look different from my thread?+
Some formats, such as DST and EXP, don't store thread colors, so the viewer shows stand-in colors. Formats like PES, JEF and VP3 include colors, and those are shown as saved in the file. Your machine always sews with whatever thread you load.
What does the stitch-out playback show?+
The play button and slider draw the design stitch by stitch in sewing order, so you can check the sequence, the color changes and the jumps before you stitch it out.
Does the viewer work on phones and tablets?+
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Pinch to zoom and drag to move around the design.
Is the embroidery file viewer free?+
Completely free, with no account, no watermark and no limit on how many files you open.
Can you fix or edit my embroidery design?+
The viewer is for looking at and converting files. If your design needs resizing, editing or re-digitizing, order digitizing online and our team will do it, with files back in 24–48 hours.
Need a Design Digitized or Fixed?
