Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between JEF and JEF+?
- JEF+ is an extended version of the JEF format used by newer Janome machines (MC15000 and above). JEF+ supports larger design areas and additional machine settings. Standard JEF files work on most Janome machines; check your machine manual for JEF+ compatibility.
- Can I use JEF files on an Elna machine?
- Yes — Elna machines are manufactured by Janome and natively read JEF files. Elna machines may also use the SEW format, which is closely related.
- How do I convert JEF to DST?
- Use our free converter above — upload your JEF file, choose DST as the target format, and download.
- Why is my JEF file not loading on my machine?
- Ensure the file is saved to a FAT32-formatted USB card. Janome machines often require the file to be at the root of the card, not inside a folder.
